A man who appeared to be in his 50’s has been killed by dogs at the Nanascol Plots in Vanderbijlpark this evening.
The ER24 paramedics were notified of a man that had been seriously injured after he had allegedly tried to break up a fight between two bull terrier dogs. The man was allegedly employed by the owner who has approximately 8 bull terriers on the property. It is not clear as to why the dogs were fighting, but it is believed that two of the males dogs were fighting when the man tried to break them apart. The other dogs allegedly then attacked the man and caused his such severe injuries that he died at the scene. There was nothing more that paramedics could do for him.
The police and NSPCA officials were at the scene to control the dogs while the paramedics initially assessed the man. The dogs were taken into a closed off section of the back yard while their fate was decided. The woman who lives on the property was also allegedly attacked by the dogs when she saw them attacking her employee and she tried to get them off him. She was taken to a nearby hospital with private transport before paramedics arrived. It is not clear as to what the extent of her injuries are at this stage.
