A car and a bakkie collided almost head on, on the R28 in the Evaton area near Sebokeng in the Free State, leaving a man with critical injuries and three other people with moderate injuries.
It appears that one of the vehicles was overtaking when the other was driving in the opposite direction. The vehicles collided almost head on, with both of them being extensively damaged on the right drivers sides. Both vehicles then spun off the road coming to rest a few meters apart.
In the front cabin of the bakkie were three men, one of whom had sustained very serious injuries. He appeared to have lost a lot of blood and needed urgent medical care at a hospital facility. He actually got out of the bakkie after the accident but collapsed a few meters away. The ER24 Discovery Medicopter was called in and airlifted the man to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg. The other two men sustained moderate injuries.
The woman driving the sedan also sustained moderate injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
