A taxi driver had a narrow escape after losing control of his vehicle and crashing it into a tree and over turning on Inanda Road between Waterfall and Cresthome this morning.
ER24, VEMA and Gillets Fire Department responded to the scene and found the taxi was blocking one lane of Inanda Road. The driver had already been rescued by the local community before emergency personnel had arrived on the scene. The driver was examined and found that he had sustained minor injuries and was transported to St Marys Hospital in a stable condition for further medical care. There was no one else in the taxi at the time of the accident.
It is believed that the taxi may have had some sort of mechanical problems, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the tree. Metro police and SAPS were on scene and would investigate the accident further.
