Worker plummets 10 meters trough roof in Epping

EPPING 22 July 2011, 10:15

One man has sustained severe injuries this morning after falling approximately 10 meters trough an asbestos roof at a vacant warehouse in Epping.

Two workers of a company specialising in renovating and building were busy taking measurements on the roof of the warehouse in order to replace some missing panels. The one worker recalled hearing a banging sound and turning around just in time to see his colleague plummet through the roof.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the injured worker on the floor of the warehouse surrounded by broken pieces of roof and being attended to by concerned colleagues. The man aged 42 had sustained a deep laceration to his head and was complaining about severe back pain.

Paramedics then immobilized the injured man to a special board. He then received on-scene treatment before being transported to the Life Vincent Pallotti hospital for further medical care.
