Security Guard Sustains Critical Burns

A security guard is fighting for his life after the shelter that he was in caught a light on Pomona Road in Kempton Park in the early hours of this morning.
ER24 paramedics rushed to the scene and found the security guard outside the hut and in severe pain. The 33yr old security guard was assessed and found that he had suffered about 70 to 75 percent burns to his body. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed by means of fluid replacement and pain medication. While the patient was being stabilised further, a Medicopter was called to the scene and airlift the critically burnt patient through to Milpark Hospital for further medical care.

It is unclear how the fire started in the security hut but it is believed that the guard had a heater on and this could have set the place on fire. The guard tried to extinguish the flames but got burnt in the process.

The necessary authorities would be notified and an investigation would be done into the incident.
