Shortly after 1am this morning ER24 paramedics from the East Rand base were called to the intersection of Great North and Atlas Road in Benoni for a serious car accident.
An Isuzu bakkie and an Audi A4 sedan had collided into one another, and at this stage it is not clear as to how exactly the collision occurred. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the two woman in the Isuzu and two men in the Audi were injured. The two woman required treatment for moderate injuries and were later taken to Tambo Memorial Hospit for treatment.
One of the men in the Audi was more severely injured and he needed Advanced Life Support treatment for his injuries. The second occupant of the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and both men were transported to the Life Glynnwood Hospital for treatment.
Necessary investigations into the cause of the accident will be performed by the officials who were at the scene.
