Four people were killed when their car crashed into an ambulance in Port Elizabeth on Monday, the Eastern Cape health department said.
Spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said the four people in a Toyota Yaris burnt to death as the car caught fire after the head-on collision.
The ambulance was not carrying patients at the time. The driver and a passenger suffered head injuries and were airlifted to hospital.
The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.
