[Dainfern 30 September 2011 15:30]
3 taxis have collided on the R511 near Dainfern between Fourways and Diepsloot leaving 23 people injured.
At this stage it is not clear as to what caused the collision, but the three taxis had mostly been damaged on their front ends. One of the taxis was actually pushed off the road and the other two managed to drive a short distance to safety before stopping.
The ER24 paramedics and Life Fourways Paramedic quickly assessed each of the patients and made sure that they would receive the appropriate treatment according to what was reuqired from the nature of their injuries.
23 people from the 3 taxis required treatment on scene. Most of the patients sustained minor to moderate injuries, and only one woman was treated for a more serious injury. She had sustained what appeared to be a broken leg in the accident. The remaining patients, including 3 young children between the ages of 4 and 6, were treated on scene and loaded into waiting ambulances for transport to various hospitals in the area.
