Small Boy Hurt In Car Accident

[PIETERMARITZBURG – 05 OCTOBER 2011 AT 22H00]

A 10yr old boy has suffered serious injuries and the driver with only minor injuries after the car they were travelling in lost control and crashed into a wall of a residence on Dennis Shepstone Road in Hilton this evening.

ER24 paramedics from Pietermaritzburg arrived on the scene and found the car had smashed through a wall and was firmly wedged. The child was found in the back seat of the car and was assessed. He had suffered a broken arm and possible neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed to help stabilise the child before he was transported to nearby hospital in a serious but stable condition. The driver was examined and found that he had suffered very minor cuts and abrasions and did not want further medical care.

It is unclear why the driver lost control but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the accident further.
