[Mooi River – 30 October 2011 at 13H00]
A head on collision between two bakkies on Kamburg just near Mooi River has left one person dead and six others have sustained serious injuries this afternoon.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles very close together. Both vehicles had extensive damage. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one person had succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased. The remaining six patient were treated for possible neck and back injuries and multiple lacerations. They were all placed on specialised boards and transported to various hospitals in the greater Pietermaritzburg area for further medical care.
All necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
