[Bloemfontein – 03 November 2011 at 06H00]
A head on collision on the Brandfort Road about 35km outside Bloemfontein involving two vehicles has left one person dead and another person with serious injuries.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found both vehicles in the road. Both drivers were still in the vehicles but unfortunately the one driver who was severely entrapped had also already succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased by the paramedics. The Jaws of Life was used to extricate the body from the vehicle.
In the second vehicle the driver believed to be 32 years of age had suffered very serious injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before he was transported to a provincial hospital in Bloemfontein for further medical care.
The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
