Taxi Accident On The M7 Leaves Four Injured.

[Pinetown – 11 November 2011]

One person is in a serious condition and three others have sustained minor to moderate injuries after the taxi they were traveling in over turned on the M7 west bound before the N3 on ramp Friday evening.

ER24 Discovery Medicopter Ground Support Unit was first to arrive on the scene and found the taxi lying on its side in between the emergency and left hand lane. Three people were found seated on the Armco barrier, while the fourth person was mechanically entrapped inside the taxi.

ER24 and EMRS paramedics had to gain entrance by removing the back window. The patient had suffered multiple injuries and needed rapid medical care. She was placed on a specialised board and taken out of the vehicle to help stabilise her further. Advanced Life Support intervention had to performed on the patient. The three remaining patients had suffered abrasions and lacerations and were treated on the scene. All patients were taken to RK Khans Hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the driver lost control and rolled the taxi while taking the corner in the wet weather conditions.
