[SHONGWENI – 18 NOVEMBER 2011 AT 11H00]
A 3yr old boy is lucky to be alive after being electrocuted at his residence in Shongweni this morning.
ER24 received the call through our national call centre number on 084 124 and immediately sent the closest ambulance and Advanced Life Support paramedic to the scene. When they arrived they found the mother and baby waiting for them on the side of the road.
The paramedics assessed him and found that he had suffered burns to both his hands but was in a stable condition. The patient who was in good spirits through the whole ordeal was treated for his burns and then transported to Life Crompton Hospital in Pinetown for further medical care.
It is believed that the little boy was playing near the wall socket and may have put his fingers into the holes, causing him to be electrocuted. His mom was near him at the time of the incident and was unable to get to him quick enough before the incident happen.
