An elderly lady believed to be aged in her late 60’s has sustained multiple injuries earlier this afternoon after she was attacked and mauled by a Rottweiler in Strand.
An off duty ER24 paramedic was driving in a road in Strand when he noticed the large Rottweiler attack the lady. The dog allegedly bit the lady on her arm. She then proceeded to rip free before falling to the ground knocking her head on the pavement.
The off duty paramedic immediately rushed to the aid of the lady and dispatched extra resources to the scene. Paramedics treated the lady for a suspected neck, back, leg and hip injury as well as a large open wound to her arm sustained from the bite.
The lady was later transported to Mediclinic Vergelegen for further medical attention. The appropriate authority will be investigating the incident further.
