A 39 year old man has sustained a suspected back and neck injury earlier this afternoon while swimming at Santos beach in Mossel Bay.
ER24 paramedics were called out to the beach and found the man being attended to by local life guards. The man was swimming with some friends when he allegedly hit his head onto a sandbank while diving into the water.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene for a suspected back and neck injury, before immobilising him to a special board. The man was later transported to the Mosselbay provincial hospital for further medical care.
