6 People sustained various injuries this morning after the minibus taxi they were traveling in overturned on the N2 highway in the direction of Somerset West.
The group of people was allegedly on their way to Hermanus to plan a funeral when the minibus taxi lost control and overturned into the center median bushes. The vehicle came to standstill on its left side and the passengers had to kick out the front wind shield in order to exit the vehicle.
ER24 paramedics found all the occupants beside the vehicle upon arriving at the scene. All the occupants received on-scene treatment for injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to various scrapes and bruises.
ER24 and the Western Cape Department of Health Emergency Medical Services transported a total of 16 patients to the Hottentots Holland hospital for further medical care. Local law enforcement authorities who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.
