A cyclist believed to be in his mid 40’s has died after he was struck by an Opel Corsa on the R102 near Firgrove this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find the motor vehicle and the cyclist a few meters apart. Paramedics could see that the collision was severe as the Opel Corsa had sustained substantial damage. The male cyclist was found without a pulse and was not breathing. He had sustained various fatal injuries and was later declared dead at the scene.
The single occupant in the Opel Corsa was treated at the scene for shock before being transported to a nearby medical facility by another ambulance service. Local law enforcement officials who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.
