A man has been killed and another 2 injured after an accident on the R33 in the direction of Pietermaritzburg.

For some reason the driver of the bakkie lost control of the vehicle and it rolled off the road and into a produce field. The bakkie was completely damaged and had landed back on its wheels. Unfortunately, one of the bakkie’s passengers has been ejected from the vehicle and he was found lying on the ground. Initial assessments by the paramedics on scene revealed that the man had no signs of life and there was nothing further that could be done for him. The man was declared dead at the scene.

The driver and second passenger of the bakkie sustained minor injuries and they were both transported to Northdale Hospital for further treatment.

There had been no other vehicles involved in the accident and the police will need to investigate what the cause of the accident was.
