Sixteen commuters were injured after a taxi over turned on Allandale Corner and Alsation Road in Midrand this morning.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the taxi lying on its side with all the commuters seated on the side of the road.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that five patients had suffered suspected neck and back injuries and need specialised boards to help protect their spines from further injuries. The remaining eleven patients suffered minor to moderate injuries. All patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
The necessary authorities will investigate the accident.
