A man believed to be in his early fifties is in a critical condition after sustaining severe traumatic injuries to his leg after his sit on lawn mower over turned and caused him to fall at his residence in Hillcrest this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man in the garden been treated by his son, who had put a belt around his fathers leg to stop the bleeding. Paramedics assessed him and found that he had suffered severe traumatic injuries to his right leg and had lost a lot of blood. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient. The patient was transported to Hillcrest Private Hospital in a critical condition for further medical intervention.
It is believed that the man was cutting his grass when he went up a slope, which caused the lawn mower to be unsteady. If it wasn’t for the quick thinking of the son to stop the bleeding, the outcome may have been a lot worse.
