The search for 16 people who went missing after going for a swim from a beach in Port Elizabeth, will resume on Monday morning.
The National Sea Rescue Institute said strong rip currents dragged the bathers out to sea.
One person was confirmed dead.
The institute’s Craig Lambinon said, “Sixteen people were brought ashore by lifeguards. Of those 16, one was declared dead on scene. Five people missing are all from the Motherwell rugby club.”
