Four injured in hot air balloon accident in Stellenbosch


[ Stellenbosch – 14 April 2012 at 08H30]

There has been a hot air balloon accident this morning where four people have been injured outside of Stellenbosch on a farm.

ER24 arrived on scene and found emergency personnel on scene treating the injured. One patient was in a critical condition and was airlifted to Mediclinic Stellenbosch by Skymed Medicopter.

ER24 treated a female with suspected neck and back injuries and a broken leg. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before she was taken to Mediclinic Stellenbosch for further medical care. The remaining two people, which was the pilot and another passenger sustained minor injures.

The circumstances into the accident will be investigated by the local authorities.
