ELSIE’S RIVER 18 April 2012, 09:45
A construction worker sustained some injuries this morning after a street lamp fell on him in Elsie’s River.
The cause of the incident is unclear at this stage, but a group of workers were digging around the street lamp on the sidewalk, when the lamp fell over to its side and on the worker.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that the workers colleagues had already removed the man, believed to be aged in his early 20’s, from under the street lamp. Paramedics administered Advanced Life Support treatment to the man as he was in severe pain.
The man received on-scene treatment at the scene for suspected back, neck and chest injuries before being transported to a nearby medical facility for further care. The incident will be investigated by the appropriate authority.
