Eight people sustained various injuries this morning following a three vehicle collision on Main Reef road in Roodepoort.
The cause of the collision is unclear at this stage, but a Ford bakkie had allegedly veered out of control before overturning. A passenger vehicle then swerved out of the way of the bakkie, but then collided head on with a third vehicle.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found a total of eight people in need of medical attention. Three of the people had sustained serious injuries in the form of suspected back, neck, head and abdominal injuries as well as broken bones.
The remaining five patients sustained moderate to minor injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to various scrapes and bruises. All of the patients received treatment at the scene from various Emergency Medical Services before being transported to various nearby medical facilities for further treatment.
Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the cause of the collision further.
