The blue Honda sedan was traveling on Eufees road when the driver lost control for some reason and the vehicle then crashed off the bridge and onto the road below. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels on Old Pretoria Main Road, an approximate eight meter drop from the bridge.
The cause of the accident will need to be investigate as it is not yet clear as to why the driver lost control and the vehicle crashed from the bridge, the necessary authorities who attended the scene will collect information for investigation purposes.
Paramedics and rescuers arrived to find that the vehicle was quite badly damaged, and five men had been traveling in the vehicle at the time. One of the passengers had already died in the car due to extensive traumatic injuries. Nothing further could be done for the man and he was declared dead. Two of other occupants, one of them the driver, had suffered critical injuries. The driver had suffered an extensive head injury while the passenger had suffered multiple broken bones and was in an extreme amount of pain. The two were removed from the wreck after Fire and Rescue workers had cut the vehicle open using the Jaws of Life. Paramedics treated the injured where they sat, stabilising the two critically injured patients before they moved them into the ambulance for transport to hospital. The remaining two men were lucky to have only suffered minor injuries. They too were assessed, treated for their injuries and then taken to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
There had been no other vehicles involved in the accident.
