Today (22 May) at around 09:15 in Greenstone on Stoneridge Drive, a young driver allegedly lost control of a VW Citi Golf colliding with a street pole on the center island and flipped onto its roof before coming to a halt on the opposite side of the road. Fortunately no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Terence Teixeira from the Matrix Road Safety Association arrived on the scene. “The Emer-G-Med medics arrived on scene and the medics assessed and treated the injured driver and his passenger. The two occupants sustained mild injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital by Emer-G-Med,” he reports.
While the cause of the accident is unknown, Teixeira urges motorists to slow down when approaching an intersection. “Always be on the lookout for vehicles, islands and slip lanes when approaching the intersection and anticipate any potential hazards. By reducing your speed and being more aware there is a better chance you’ll avoid an accident,” he advises.
