[DURBAN, KZN – 07 JUNE 2012 AT 01H30]
A bakkie with two occupants have been injured this morning after the vehicle they were in crashed into the back of a truck on the M7 east bound near to Bellville on ramp in the early parts of this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the bakkie with extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. Both occupants were found still inside the vehicle at the time.
Paramedics assessed them and found that the driver had sustained serious injuries from the impact and they suspected neck and back injuries and multiple cuts. The passenger had sustained minor cuts and abrasions. Both patients were stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
It is unclear why the driver crashed in to the back of the truck but the local SAPS were on scene and would investigate the accident further.
