[Benoni, GP 13 June 2012 15:00]
The initial reports of the incident that took place on Benoni Road in Benoni this afternoon was that a man in his 30’s was knocked by a car that had then fled the scene.
When paramedics arrived at the scene they found the man lying on the pavement and they immediate started treating him for critical injuries. Once they had stabilised him as best they could, placing him on life saving equipment and taking over his vitals functions externally, they waited for the Medicopter to land on scene. The man had sustained a traumatic head injury, multiple broken bones and severe chest injuries. The Medicopter airlifted the man to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital for further treatment.
Later, while paramedics were finishing up on scene, the actual incident details were relieved. Although it is not yet clear what actually took place, it is believed that two friends had decided to climb onto the roof of an abandoned building. The man in his 30’s fell from approximately 10 meters high into the yard. The man’s friend then pulled him to the sidewalk where paramedics could find the injured man and then he apparently left the scene.
The exact details will need to be investigated.
