Young Cop killed in Eastern Cape crash after tyre burst

A policeman was killed in an accident in Butterworth on Saturday morning, Eastern Cape police said.

“The 27-year-old constable was driving his private car from Butterworth to Cuba township where he was staying,” said Captain Jackson Manatha.

“It is suspected that the car had a tyre burst as it did not collide with another car.”

The accident occurred around 01:00 on the N2.

A woman passenger in the constable’s car was injured and taken to hospital.
