A ten year old boy sustained serious injuries this afternoon following an incident on a farm near Visser’s Hok.
The events leading up to the incident is unclear, but the boy was being transported on the back of an open tailor being pulled by a tractor on a dirt road. The tractor then drove over a bump, catapulting the boy into the air before bouncing him off of the trailer onto the road.
Paramedics who later arrived on the scene knew that the child had sustained serious injuries and needed to be transported to a hospital rapidly. They promptly dispatched the ER24 Discovery Mecicopter to the scene. The child received on-scene treatment for a head injury as well as an injury to his back.
He was later airlifted to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital for further treatment. The incident will be investigated by the appropriate authority.
