A 57 year old man sustained serious injuries this afternoon following a incident in Kempton Park.
The exact cause of the incident is unclear, but the man was standing next to a steel gate when it allegedly came off its rail and fell on the man. When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the man out from under the gate, which apparently weighs approximately 300 kilograms.
The man had sustained a serious injury to his left leg as well as suspected back and neck injuries. Paramedics treated the man at the scene before placing him on spinal immobilisation equipment. He was later transported to a nearby medical facility for further care.
