17 people sustained various injuries this afternoon when a single minibus taxi overturned on the R27 in Big Bay.
ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene of the incident to find that a minibus taxi had overturned ejecting most of the occupants from the vehicles as it rolled. Paramedics found a total of 17 people in need of medical attention. All of the patients were found sitting next to the road.
Emergency personnel from ER24 and the Western Cape Provincial Department of Health Emergency Medical Services treated and stabilised the patients at the scene for injuries ranging from multiple cuts and bruises to suspected back and neck injuries.
All of the patients were later transported to various hospitals in the surrounding area in various ambulances. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
