A nineteen-year-old man was critically injured when he was electrocuted while walking on an unnamed road in Mamelodi this afternoon.
The cause of the incident and the series of events leading up to it remains unclear.
Common cause information suggests that the man had stepped on exposed wire from an illegal electrical connection. His brother, who had been walking with him at the time, witnessed him being electrocuted.
The man was rushed to the Stanza Bopape Clinic. Netcare911 Paramedics rushed to the Clinic and took over care of the man. He had sustained severe burn wounds to his hands and feet, as well as his chest.
The man was intubated and placed on a manual ventilator before he was airlifted to the Netcare Milpark Hospital.
