Two men escaped with no injuries after crash landing in a light aircraft this morning in Cato Ridge near Pietermaritzburg. Reports from the pilot indicate that they came in for a landing at a private air strip when the wing clipped the sugar cane. The plane spun out of control and came to rest in the cane field some distance from the initial impact.
Netcare 911 and the Police search and rescue arrived at the scene and found the pilot and the passenger on the runway. Although the pilot was visibly shocked they were both uninjured.
The scene was secured by the police who will conduct the investigation in conjunction with the civil aviation authority.
