A Hyundai 1-ton bakkie has rolled on the Vlakplaas road outside of the guest farm in Vanderbijlpark, approximately two kilometers down on the dirt road from the R42.
The bakkie that had a canopy on the back rolled due to unknown reason when the driver is believed to have suddenly lost control. The vehicle came to rest on the side of the road once again on its wheels, but the canopy had been ripped off.
A young woman in her 20’s was found lying next to where the broken canopy lay. Sadly she had not survived the massive chest and head injuries that she had suffered during the accident. The woman was declared dead on scene. A further seven patients were treated for minor to moderate injuries, and they were found seated around the damaged vehicle. The patients were taken by ambulance to nearby provincial hospitals.
The only person that did not go to hospital was the driver who appeared to have been removed from scene by the local police.
