On 1 September at around 17:45 a taxi allegedly skipped a traffic light and collided with a Renault on Grayston Drive in Sandton.
Terence Teixeira from the Matrix Road Safety Association, who arrived on the scene, says driver of the Renault sustained light to moderate injuries and 11 occupants of the taxi sustained light injuries.
“The Matrix Road Safety Association response vehicle arrived and the onboard Emer-G-Med medic assisted fellow medics on scene to assess and treat the injured,” he reports.
Teixeira urges drivers to always approach an intersection with caution by assessing other vehicles behaviour as they approach. “By doing this there is a higher chance that you may have an opportunity to avoid an accident or at the very least take measures to reduce impact,” he advises.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police are investigating the accident.
