ER24 from Durban south and EMRS arrived on the scene and found the taxi off to the side of the road, lying on its side with commuters strewn across the gravel road. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that two woman had already succumbed to their injuries and were declared deceased on scene.
Three people had sustained serious neck and back injuries and needed specialised boards to protect there neck and backs from further injury. Eleven others had sustained minor cuts and abrasions. Patients were stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
