School boys knocked down in Bez Valley

[Bezuidenhout Valley, GP 12 September 2012 15:30]

Two boys in school uniform were knocked down by an Opel Corsa bakkie while they were trying to cross the road in Bezuidenhout Valley this afternoon.

Panicked calls came into ER24 notifying them of the incident were the two boys lay almost side by side, motionless in the road near the intersection of 10th and Broadway. What exactly transpired to cause the collision is still under investigation by authorities, but the two boys were badly injured and the bakkie extensively damaged.

The 13 year old was immediately placed into a Provincial ambulance and transported with the Life Advance Life Support paramedic to the Bedford Gardens hospital for further care of the critical injuries he had sustained, they would place him on life saving equipment en route to the medical facility. The 15 year old lay almost on the center median of the road, and paramedics had to immediately start resuscitation efforts as his injuries had been so severe. Sadly, after a long battle to save the boys life, there was no change in his condition and he had died at the scene.

There was no injuries to the occupants of the bakkie.
