Following the Roodepoort incident of cable theft from the power station, ER24 just attended to another incident of suspected electricity theft that occurred late yesterday evening.
According to the security guards, at around 10 pm last night three men had allegedly tried to steal electrical cables at a Golf Estate in Irene in Pretoria. Guards came across them and the three men supposedly tried to flee, but not before one of the guards shot at the men. After searching for a possible patient, it was determined that the shot had been a miss and they carried on their duties. Fortunately electricity supply had not been affected in the area.
This morning at around 8am, a man was found lying in a field, still inside the Golf Estate. One of the suspects had indeed been shot, and he appeared to have been unable to make his getaway due to the wound to his chest. Despite his injuries, he was miraculously still alive and conscious. Paramedics treated him for blood loss and he was then taken to the local provincial hospital by ambulance.
The Sunnyside Police were on scene and will investigate all necessary details surrounding this incident.
