One man has died and four others sustained minor injuries following a head on collision between a truck and a passenger vehicle on the R31 near Kimberley this afternoon.
The cause of the collision is unclear, but a VW Citi golf had allegedly veered into oncoming traffic before colliding head-on with a truck. The truck then drove over the Golf. ER24 paramedics who arrived at the scene found the Golf to have sustained significant damage.
There was one male occupant in the golf. The driver had sustained various fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. There were four occupants in the truck at the time of the collision. All for of the patients were fortunate to have sustained minor injuries only in the form of multiple scrapes and bruises.
The patients received treatment at the scene before being transported to the Kimberley provincial hospital for further care. The collision will be investigated by the appropriate authority.
