[LYDENBURG, MP – 20 NOVEMBER 2012 AT 13H00]
A truck driver and his passenger both in their early thirties have sustained moderate injuries after the articulated truck they were in overturned on the R37 about 70km from Nelspruit near to Lydenberg this afternoon.
ER24 and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the truck on its side with both occupants still inside the cabin. Paramedics were able to assess the patients while the local Fire Department and rescue teams used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to extricate them from the wreckage. The driver and passenger were both treated for suspected neck and back injuries and moderate cuts and abrasions. They were transported to Mediclinic Nelspruit for further medical care.
The circumstances around the accident will be investigated by the local authorities that were on the scene.
