A Matric school boy tragically drowned in the La Mercy lagoon near Ballito this afternoon. Reports indicate that the student and his friends went for a swim this afternoon when he suddenly disappeared under the water.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene at around 16h15 and found the traumatized friends at the waterside. S A P S search and rescue divers searched the water and recovered the body of the eighteen year old male. Tragically he was declared dead on scene.
