Two females were seriously injured after a heavy goods truck slammed into the side of their vehicle at the N2 intersection with the Isipingo flyover. Reports indicate that the vehicle was turning onto the onramp of the highway when she crossed the path of the truck traveling along Prospecton Road at around 13h30 this afternoon.
Netcare 911, provincial paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and found the occupants still trapped in the twisted remains of their car in the middle of the road, the truck was partially hanging over the bridge. While firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the seriously injured patients, medics clambered into the vehicle to stabilize them. After they were deftly immobilized and extricated, medics transported them to a local hospital for the care that they required.
The driver of the truck escaped from the accident visibly traumatized but uninjured.
