Two men have been rescued and a third man has allegedly drowned after falling into a sewage drain in Witbank CBD on Dan Pienaar Road this morning.
ER24 paramedics and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found two men had been pulled out of the drain by fellow workers. They were assessed and treated for minor cuts and abrasions. They were also treated for shock. They were transported to Witbank Provincial Hospital for further medical care. A third man who was also with them fell into the sewage drain and is alleged to have drowned.
The circumstance around the incident is unclear but its believed that the three men were hired to unblocked a sewage drain when the incident took place. The necessary authorities were on scene and would investigate the incident further.
