A man has died after being found floating in the Duzi River in Alexander Park in Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.
It is believed that a member of public saw a body floating in the river and quickly notified the authorities. ER24, SAPS Search and Rescue K-9 unit and the SAPS dive unit arrived on the scene and was shown where the body was last seen.
Moments later the dive team was in the water and recovered the body. ER24 assessed the patient and declared the patient deceased. It is unclear how long he had been in the water for or when the incident took place.
The local authorities on scene would investigate the incident further.
