One man is in a critical condition while six others sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision in Benoni East this afternoon. Reports indicate that the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Kingsway and Spring Roads just after three this afternoon, one of the vehicles then veered off and hit a pedestrian.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and after triaging the injured they found that a man had sustained critical injuries, six others among them three little girls and a pregnant female sustained serious injuries. After the critically injured man was stabelised at the scene, he was airlifted with the Netcare one medical helicopter to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital for the care that he required.
The other patients were stabelised on scene and then transported by ambulance to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.
