Crisis Medical paramedics attended to an accident on Forrest Drive, Umhlanga at 02:45 this morning.
On arrival, paramedics found two badly damaged vehicles lying in the road way. They immediately checked the cars and found a seriously injured man suffering from a suspected spinal injury, fractures to his lower legs and puncture to his jugular vein. Great care was taken to fully immobilise and stabilise the injured man before taking him to hospital in a critical condition for the life saving care he required.
From on scene reports it is suggested that an errant driver lost control negotiating a bend in the road resulting in the head on collision. The driver of the vehicle that lost control was not hurt.
Durban North SAPS members were on scene to investigate the cause of the incident.
