Netcare 911 paramedics and its rescue unit responded to an incident in Cato Ridge in KZN last night.
Upon their arrival they found that a man had sustained critical injuries after he was struck by a train.
After the critically injured man was treated on scene, he was transported to a nearby hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events are unclear and will remain the subject of an investigation.
