A man sustained serious injuries after a sand bank collapsed on him in Verulam this afternoon. Reports indicate that the worker was digging a trench when the sides became unstable and collapsed, trapping the man under the sand.
Netcare 911 and the provincial paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the man had been dug out from the trench by fellow workers. Medic’s stabelised him on scene before transporting the man to a nearby provincial hospital for the care that he required.
