A worker sustained serious injuries after he was struck by a chain on a ship in the Durban harbour today. Exact detail to the events leading up to the incident is still speculative and will remain a subject for investigation.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and had to clamber down ladders to the bottom of the ship’s hull to stabilize the injured worker. After he was treated the Netcare 911 rescue officer packaged him in a specialized stretcher before hoisting the man back to the wharf where the ambulance crew was waiting. The patient was transported to a Netcare hospital for the care that he required.
